Whether you’re out on a run, chilling out on the sofa or driving to a family dinner, there’s always plenty of time to extend your social media marketing knowledge with the help of podcasts. They’re easy to listen to, providing a quick way for you to learn something new which you can apply to your own social media marketing strategy.
In fact in the US, around the same number of people who use Twitter listen to podcasts and in the last year, listening to podcasts increased by 11%. So get onboard this band wagon!
So Who Should you be Listening to?
I’ve put together my 12 favourite social media marketing podcasts below but don’t be afraid to share who you’re listening to in the comment section at the end of this blog post.
Unless you’ve been hidden away beneath a rock, you’ve probably heard of Gary Vaynerchuk. The concept of Gary’s podcast is simple. Each episode involves Gary answering a question or two from his audience covering anything from marketing, entrepreneurship and, more importantly, social media marketing.
If you’ve been following Gary for a while, you’ll know that all of this began on Youtube, where he now has around 650,000 subscribers. Having seen the popularity grow and grow, he successfully repurposed his Youtube content and turned them into podcasts. A marketing less in itself!
It goes without saying that we’re super fans of Buffer. If they launch anything, we’re first to push our way in and find out what it’s all about. And you’ll see us raving about their content left, right and centre. That enthusiasm for all things Buffer certainly doesn’t change when it comes to their podcast which we are obsessed with.
Each episode involves the team at Buffer interviewing knowledgeable marketers for around 30 minutes with interviews from the likes of Rank Fishkin, Meghan Keaney Anderson from HubSpot and Brian Fanzo.
If you want to learn from the best then it wouldn’t be a bad idea getting yourself subscribed to Buffer’s podcast.
From Facebook and Twitter to Snapchat and Periscope, Tyler Anderson covers it on his podcast. As the owner of Casual Fridays, a social media marketing agency and Scoreboard Social, a social media reporting tool, he’s certainly in a position to fully understand social media marketing. It also allows him to attract some big name marketers to his podcast episodes such as Madalyn Skla and Morgan Sutton.
Pam is ranked in the top 10 social media power influencers by Forbes. That alone should give you a good enough reason to give Social Zoom Factor your attention.
What I like about Pam’s podcast is the fact that she provides a lot of actionable tips that can be applied and test with your current social media strategy pretty quickly.
The negative is that the frequency in which she releases a new episode has dropped a lot. Nevertheless, I’d recommend going back to past episodes and giving them a listen as there’s a lot of incredibly useful bits of information on there.
As the name suggests, Madalyn focusses on Twitter marketing in her podcast. She has interviewed the likes of Pat Flynn, Mari Smith, Kim Garst and Mark Schaefer about how they market their businesses on Twitter and for their top tips for marketing on Twitter.
If you want to learn how the pros and influencers are using Twitter then get yourself subscribed to Madalyn’s podcast.
Jordan’s podcast focusses solely on Instagram and involves him interviewing influential Instagram users for about 25 minutes about how they have got to where they are on Instagram. He limits his interviews to those users who are creative on Instagram and who have a large and, more important, engaging following on Instagram.
As Instagram use grows, especially amongst brands, this is a vital and thought-provoking podcast that I highly recommend getting yourself subscribed to.
You know a podcast is going to be good when it is hosted by the likes of Jay Baer of Convince and Convert fame and Adam Brown of Salesforce and that’s why a list of marketing podcast’s would not be complete without Social Pros Podcast.
It’s not really a surprise that their podcast is one of the most popular marketing podcasts across the globe.
Their podcast focusses on real brands and what their social media managers are doing to achieve their growth. These brands include the likes of Ford, Dell, IBM, ESPN and more!
With 1 or 2 episodes a week, Amy’s podcast is a must! It covers a whole range of marketing topics including social media marketing plus interviews with some serious well-known marketers including Russell Brunson, John Lee Dumas and Rick Mulready.
Although Jeff’s podcast is quite niche, it’s certainly not one to be avoided especially when you consider that 93% of all Pinterest users have purchased something online in the last six months.
That’s why Jeff’s podcast where he shares his knowledge of Pinterest is vital to any social media marketing campaign and why I highly recommend subscribing to his podcast.
If you don’t know of Jon Loomer, then all you need to know is he is the go-to paid Facebook traffic guru. Saying that, his pubcast isn’t focussed solely on paid traffic, or facebook, but on marketing as a whole.
